A research technician position is available within Robert Bradley's group ( at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
The lab studies the role of RNA processing in human disease. We seek to identify clinically relevant problems that are best studied with both experimental and computational approaches. The individual in this position will support ongoing research on facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, specifically investigating the intersection of the disease process and regulation of RNA processing.
Working under the direction of the principal investigator and/or postdoctoral fellows, assist with molecular biology and cell culture experiments.
Required skills:
- RNA extraction and qRT-PCR
- Western blotting
- Mammalian cell culture
- DNA cloning
- General laboratory maintenance (prepare LB, make chemical stocks, etc.)
Desirable skills:
- Polysome profiling/sucrose gradient fractionation
- Illumina library preparation
A bachelor's or master's degree in a biological science and at least 2 years of previous experience in a molecular biology research environment is required. Evidence of independent research capability, such as projects outside of standard coursework, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic about research, and enjoy working as part of a team but be comfortable with individual responsibility.
