The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, an interdisciplinary research centre of the KU Leuven, initiates and encourages research initiatives in relation to globalization, global governance processes and multilateralism (more info at www.globalgovernancestudies.eu). The Institute for International Law at KU Leuven groups the teaching and research of international law and the law of international organizations at the Faculty of Law of KU Leuven. The Centre and Institute are looking for an outstanding junior legal researcher to conduct a four year research project funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO).
Legal Doctoral Researcher

You conduct independent, fundamental research on a research project in the area of international economic/trade law with a view to obtaining a PhD in Law.
You are employed in a dynamic, international and growing research environment and contribute to its current and future research activities.
You obtained a Master’s degree in law from a leading university with outstanding grades (you must at least have graduated in the top 5% of your class
You have a strong interest and demonstrable expertise in international economic law, preferably international trade law. Prior (academic or practical) experience in this area is a plus as well as knowledge of international economics and political economy.
You have excellent analytical skills, and are able to summarize and present a large amount of information in an intelligent way.
You are able to organize your own research activities while working as part of a research group; you are able to handle various tasks at the same time while keeping strict deadlines.
You have excellent knowledge of English. Language skills in Dutch, French and German are an asset
You are able to efficiently use the most important Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
We offer an employment as full-time doctoral researcher starting on 1 March 2015 for 1 year, renewable up to 4 years.
